Studies on paediatric brain tumours
Last update on: 04/09/2009
The current brain tumour studies of the GPOH (Association for Paediatric Oncology and Haematology) cover nearly the entire range of brain tumour illnesses occurring in childhood and adolescence. A total of over 90% of the affected children in Germany are treated in the scope of the respective studies:

Thanks to the HIT Treatment Network
it has already been possible to achieve important improvements in carrying out and evaluating diagnostic measures relevant to treatment. They are a significant requirement for the further improvement of the treatment concepts and for increased survival rates. As such, the HIT treatment network provides for the sweeping interdisciplinary care of children with brain tumours according to the most up-to-date state of medicine.
Efforts are currently being made to improve the detection and reduction of late effects resulting from treatment as well as to further strengthen the link to institutions conducting basic research with the objective of intensifying the development of new forms of treatment.
