In addition to the study of tumour cells, paediatric cancer research also deals with the defence mechanisms of the human immune system.
At the St. Anna Children's Cancer Research Institute, work is currently being done on developing an anti-cancer vaccination.
Benefit
The vaccine is intended to activate the immune system and thereby support the destruction of cancer cells.
