Cancer within children clearly varies from cancer within adults. Malign diseases within childhood are treated different and have far greater chances of healing.
In the past years the chances of curing of cancer within children and adolescents have risen remarkably.
The success factors are:
- Progress in chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery
- Recent treatment and methods of diagnosis (sonogram testing/ magnetic resonance testing) since the 1980s
- Individualised treatment for the reduction of side effects amongst young patients.
- Standardised research and treatment protocols
