EU-funded Child Cancer Research
Last update on: 01/16/2009
"Today, we are able to provide a long term cure for three quarters of the children who would have been considered incurable 40 years ago. Only through continual intensive research directly on the patient and in the laboratory will we be able to help those children for whom we currently cannot obtain a lasting success.
These successes would not have been possible without international networking, intensive cooperation on a European level as well as without the public funding and private donations"
Prof. Helmut Gadner, Head of St. Anna Kinderkrebsforschung (Children’s Cancer Research Institute)
The successful lowering of the mortality rate of child cancer is a remarkable success story, being the result of the international cooperation amongst researchers tremendously financially supported by the European Commission.
